The WindFloat Atlantic team recently took part in the Protecting the Oceans initiative — an international programme created by Ocean Winds, the majority shareholder of the WindFloat Atlantic project. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and conserving marine and coastal ecosystems, with a particular focus on combating marine pollution through beach monitoring and clean-up activities.
These initiatives seek to highlight the impact of marine litter on these ecosystems, with special attention to the presence of plastic, emphasise the importance of protecting and conserving biodiversity, and encourage active citizenship.
At the same time, they contribute to creating a more sustainable environment by acting locally in the communities where the project operates and protecting the surrounding areas.
This week, the team had the opportunity to clean Praia do Cabedelo in Viana do Castelo, where WindFloat Atlantic is based. The activity was supported by APLM – Portuguese Association for Marine Litter and carried out in collaboration with local entities such as the Viana do Castelo City Council, bringing together more than 40 participants.
A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to this special edition of Protecting the Oceans!
